For 40 years, The Ministries has helped the impoverished, the alienated, and people suffering from despair. They provide shelter for homeless and abused youth, food for hungry families and counseling for people and families in turmoil. Not everyone who comes to The Ministries finds a resolution to their problems, but everyone who does come is shown repsect and compassion. That has been the special gift to the Long Island Community. The Ministries was given a $2000 grant to assist with their ongoing outreach and mission.
The Micah Campaign is an interfaith initiative to proclaim that eliminating hunger, homelessness and poverty are moral imperatives and engage Long islanders in an Island-wide interfaith campaigh to reduce hunger, homelessness and poverty in our region. Over 260 congregations and more than 400 adult and youth religious leaders are participating and the number continues to grow. A mission grant of $1200 was given to fund the Micah Project's first 12 months rent of office space at the Touro Law Center. The benefit of the Touro office space will be the access to their law students who will condcut reserach that will inform the project's advocacy for public policy reform as well as provide staff support and access to cnoference rooms for Micah related meetings and presence in Suffolk as well as Nassau.
